Volunteering-one of life's great rewards

People usually decide to volunteer for the benefits they get out of the experience--the warm fuzzies that mean something to so many.  Helping others is a great way to feel better about ourselves.  Volunteering also gives many people a chance to socialize with like-minded people.

At the Dickinson Museum Center we try to work with our volunteers to make sure they feel they are getting what they need out of the experience, as well as help us out here at the museum.  Time is valuable, and we appreciate all the time our volunteers donate.  We depend on volunteers as they are essential to the quality of service provided to our visitors.

Our volunteers represent a broad spectrum of society in terms of work experience, age, education, and ability. All volunteer work assigned is important, and every effort is made to coordinate volunteer skills and interests with needs of the museum. Our volunteers come from many backgrounds with many diverse talents, and currently work with paid staff throughout the organization on projects of varying degrees of complexity, from those requiring simple skills to the very specialized.

Some of the volunteer opportunities currently available include office help, exhibit development, artifact cataloging, building hosts, community outreach, special event support staff, and a variety of other projects.

To volunteer call 701-456-6225 or e-mail us at info@dickinsonmuseumcenter.org for more  information.
