The Blacksmith Shop was constructed in 1998 to feature a variety of items that would have been found in a typical blacksmith shop. A blacksmith shop was an important business in a community as the blacksmith made and repaired metal tools and vehicles. A blacksmith would often shoe horses, or would employ a ferrier especially for that purpose. They would make and repair almost any metal item that a farmer or rancher would need to do their work. A modern equivalent of a blacksmith is a welder or metal fabricator. These craftsmen still are necessary in most communities to make and repair metal items that local residents need to do their daily work.
