DICKINSON MUSEUM CENTER HOSTS VISITING ARTIST ANNE GREENWOOD

Oregon mixed media artist, Anne Greenwood, will be leading stitching groups for her North Dakota heritage project, Finding People, Pattern, and Place: A North Dakota Textiles Project, at the Dickinson Museum Center on July 13, 14, 15.  Her journey to Dickinson is a part of bringing North Dakotan memories and stitchery together.  The project will start July 13 at noon with a lecture by Greenwood.  A stitching group session will follow from 1-4 p.m.  Stitching groups will continue July 14 from 1-4 p.m. and July 15 from 5-8 p.m.
For the first phase of the project, participants are asked to contribute a square of fabric measuring 6” x 6” that represents a memory or tradition and attach a tag that describes this memory and bring it to the stitching group.  These tags can be found at the Dickinson Museum Center.  The second stage of the project is a fabric book.   Participants are asked to bring a few fabric scraps, old clothes, or household linens to the stitching groups.  Hand stitching will then be used to decorate the fabric at the stitching groups.  They will in turn be assembled into pages which will be put into a fabric book of collective North Dakotan memories.  For more information please call 701-456-6225 or visit www.dickinsonmuseumcenter.org.
