HOMESTEADING
In honor of the Lincoln Bicentennial, states throughout the nation will be hosting exhibits and events during the year to commemorate the birth of Abraham Lincoln 200 years ago. North Dakota's spin on this is to focus on events and legislation from Lincoln's Presidential Administration that greatly affected the state including the Homestead Act and the growth of the railroad. Opening May, 2008.
SOUTHWEST NORTH DAKOTA PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
For the first time ever, the Dickinson Museum Center is planning on featuring a photography exhibition for one of its major summer events. Visit this site for updates, more information will be available in April.
Permanent Exhibits
The main building (Joachim Regional Museum) features a number of permanent exhibits including a doll house and Western Art Gallery.
The Pioneer Machinery building features permanent exhibits on agricultural history including both mechanized and horse-drawn equipment. Other permanent exhibits include a blacksmith shop, one-room school, church, store, print shop, train depot, early houses, and a coal mine. |
